The ad was filmed in early summer on the streets of London and the beautiful Sussex Downs.
The ad features a terrific cast of characters. Two youngsters - brother and sister - on the infamous school run are delighted to leave the confines of their car and follow hot on the heels of our CycleHero. An elderly woman who is faster on 2-wheels than the suited-business man who left his car in the traffic jam on a fold down bike. They are then joined by a BMX rider performing stunts, a smiling hippie on a low-rider bike, Mountain Bikers and hundreds of Extras - including a nearly-naked rider, as they ride off into a glorious sunset on their journey to save the planet!
Genevieve Love Lake
Genevieve is a professional model who stars in the film as our CycleHero. Originally from the USA she now lives and works in London. A regular cyclist, she had a great time making the film - "I am a keen cyclist and it was great to film the cycling scenes along with the other stars of the ad and the hundreds of cycling extras. As a model and actress I like to keep fit, so knowing I can count calories while counting carbon helps me feel a whole lot better. Knowing that simple - and fun - things like cycling can really make a difference in tackling global warming is so cool."
Katie Dent
Katie is nearly 11 and was volunteered for the film by her Dad who is managing the CycleHero project at CTC, she only found out she was in the film on the morning of the first days shoot. Grandma and Granddad are lifetime members of CTC and have always encouraged her cycling. "I loved being in the film, it was great to be with Genevieve and all the crew. I love going for bike rides and think if more people cycle then we can help the environment".
Louie Seber
Louie is 12 yrs old and cycles to school every day where all his friends are really jealous that he was part of the CycleHero film. Louie volunteered to be involved because his mum works for CTC. As a mad-keen cyclist Louie loved the whole experience, especially the filming in the BMX park. "We hear a lot about climate change at school and on the news. It was great to be able to be in this film and show that cycling can help". In the Film Louie & Katie are in the back of the people carrier on the school run, but leap out on their bikes when they see CycleHero fly past.
Farayi Nzenza
Farayi works in IT and was spotted on his bike by one of the crew and volunteered to be in the film where he plays the businessman who is frustrated in a traffic jam and takes his folding bike from the car to join the CycleHero group. Farayi said "I was really pleased to be able to help make this film. It gets across the important message that cycling is much better for the environment - particularly in the example of my character the businessman car driver. It did take me a little while to get used to riding the fold-up bike though!"
Lesley Farmer
By day Lesley works in Accounts for CTC, by night she likes to dress up! We asked Lesley to appear in the film as the "Granny". Her reply was "Only if the makeup can work a miracle! I might be old enough to be a Gran but as far as I know my boys haven’t any children!" Lesley had been involved in cycling for many years with her sons in to serious mountain biking, she is also a Mountain Bike Commissaire and wants to promote all forms of cycling, this film being the latest project. "This was a fantastic opportunity to get more people excited about cycling and knowing that we are also promoting a positive climate change message makes it extra special."
Sebastian Jacob
Sebastian is the German BMX champion and a friend of the film cameraman Zighy. He performed the jumps in the BMX park and was only disappointed he did not have time to do even more spectacular jumps. "I love all forms of biking, but especially the jumps. We had a great time at the BMX park in Dorking, some of the kids down there were really good."
Bryce Bedot
We found Bryce in a Cycle shop. We were scouting for props and talking to the shop manager about the film project - up popped Bryce "Can I be in the film - I can do anything". We knew straight away we had our crazy-rider. Bryce is an ex bicycle courier and a regular cycling fanatic, he quickly mastered the low-rider bike and sped across the screen. "It was a great project to be involved in and great fun! Let's hope the ad works and we can get more bums on saddles!" says Bryce
